Knowing he needed to find a good test subject, Alex decided to look for his sister Emma. He knew she would be the perfect target. Because Emma was his sister, he would easily be able to observe how any swaps affected her without arousing too much suspension, and she could be difficult at times, so he wouldn't feel bad messing with her. He told himself that the instructions claimed that all swaps could be reset, so it wasn't like he could cause any lasting harm.
After a brief search, Sarah located Emma in the family room watching TV. She was lounging on the couch, laying on her side with an open bag of potato chips resting against her. Alex watched her occasionally reached into the bag, grabbed a handful of chips, then shoveled them into her mouth. Emma's eyes remained locked on the screen, and she hadn't yet noticed her older brother's presence, so he took the opportunity to look her over and think about what he wanted to do.
Emma was wearing a plain black t-shirt along with a pair of dark blue jeans and some blue socks. As a complete tomboy, her outfit wasn't particularly feminine, not even in the slightest. She didn't like anything girly, and her hair was on the short side for a girl. Given this, some amusing possibilities came to Alex's mind. Swapping her with their younger sister Hannah, who was by all accounts Emma's polar opposite, would be hilarious. However, he could also swap her with himself, one of their parents, or even someone else entirely.
Alex wasn't sure who to swap Emma with just yet, so he decided to figure out what kind of swap to do first. He knew he could select her as the first target, then go find a second target, but first he needed to choose what to swap. Maybe knowing that would help him decide who to swap his sister with. He looked down at the remote in his hand and weighed his options. Swapping Emma's clothes or personality with Hannah's could be really funny, but he could really swap those with anyone. Either body swap option could also be interesting, but no clear idea for a swapping partner immediately jumped out at him. As for the final option, body and life swap... Well, the only option there was to swap her with himself.
