Sarah woke up feeling well-rested. As sunlight flitted into her room between the blinds, she yawned and stretched, then threw off the covers. She climbed out of bed ready to face the day. It was still the weekend so she didn't need to get ready for school, but she was never really one to sleep in.
After getting out of bed, Sarah took a nice warm shower to start her day, then got dressed. Since it was a nice spring day, she put on a comfortable green tank top, a pair dark blue denim shorts, and her usual black flip-flops. She then spent some time applying her makeup, going for her usual natural look, before heading downstairs to have some breakfast.
Sarah made herself some toast then sat at the table to eat. After she finished, Sarah rinsed off her plate in the sink and she was about to leave the room when mother walked in. "A package for you came in the mail, Sarah," she said, passing said package to her daughter.
"Oh, cool. Thanks Mom," Sarah said, giving the package a once over.
"Sure, sweetheart," Diana told her daughter before walking off.
"Strange," Sarah said to herself as her mother walked off. "I don't remember ordering anything." With a shrug, she headed up to her room, package in hand. Curious to see what someone had sent her, Sarah set it down on her bed and began to open it. Inside, she found a box labeled 'The Swaptacular Remote' along with some sort of note. She put the box aside for the moment and read over the note.
Hello, Sarah Townsend,
You have been selected as a beta tester for Blarg Industries' newest creation, The Swaptacular Remote. This remote, which we have included in this package, is capable of altering reality in several ways, allowing you to swap bodies, personalities, and more with other people. The remote is yours to play around with. All that we ask in return is for you to provide feedback on how we might improve it at the end of the trial period. Be sure to read through the instruction manual before you begin!

"Body swapping? Are you kidding?" Sarah said incredulously as she set the letter down. She wondered if someone was trying to play some kind of prank on her, but who would do something like this? Her sister Amy? No. Her boyfriend Ryan? She wouldn't put it past him, but she didn't think he would put in this kind of effort.
Investigating further, Sarah opened the box, removing an instruction manual and something that looked like some kind of TV remote. Setting the remote aside, she picked up the instruction manual and began flipping through it. After reading through the things this remote could supposedly do, Sarah was still feeling doubtful. "This seems so ridiculous," she said to herself. But she had to admit this seemed too complicated to be some mere prank and the remote did look quite advanced...
"I suppose it can't hurt to try," she decided. Sarah knew there was only one way to find out if this remote was the real deal and she was growing more curious by the moment. Now she just needed to decide how she was going to go about testing it.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
