When Mom told Jason to go to dance, he thought she meant that he was going to take Jesse to dance class. He had done it before. The class wasn't very far, he would walk her there. Despite now being only three foot five and wearing leotards and tights, Jason didn't think anything was wrong at all

Mom realized her mistake and swapped Jesse and Jason again to make it natural for Jason to be going to dance class this time. She did it by swapping all their extra-curricular activities. Jason was now in Jesse's dance class and was a Daisy in Girl Scouts and Jesse had his activities.
Jason didn't need an escort to take him to dance, but his mother wanted to take him anyway. She wanted to see him practice with all the other 'little girls'. Jesse by default was put in charge of two-year-old Jerry and eight-year-old Ariana while Jason and mom were gone.
