"Now, are you sure you're ready for this," Simba asked, both of his daughter Kiara and her mate and king, Kovu, "I can stay around if you're still-"
"Father, we've been ready for this for years," Kiara interjected, "we really have, you and mum have trained us well."
"As you wish," Simba replied, "but you know, if you do run into-"
"Simba, it's time to let go," Nala interrupted, then continued more kindly, "we've done what we can, it's time to let them make their own way in life."
"I suppose you're right my love," Simba sighed, "farewell you two, I hope I'll see you again soon enough."

"I remember feeling hopeless, helpless," Simba replied, "and then you turned up."
"Of course it's not really the same ledge any more," Nala replied, "we're different now, and so is the land."
"We're the better for it, all of us," Simba replied, then winced as he shifted slightly and felt a twinge, "well in some ways."
"In all the ways that count," Nala replied, then rose, "come on, we've a lot more ground to cover yet."
-------
"Whew," Simba said finally as he entered the shadowy jungle, with dawn just beginning to break over the horizon, "that was some trip."
"Sure was," Nala replied, "I want a nap, and I want it to last about a half-a-moon."
"Speak for yourself," Simba replied, "I'm parched, I want to have a drink before I settle down."
"That's an idea too," Nala said, "but you know, we've been going almost a day, a rest will do us good."
"I still want a drink," Simba replied, then added in an alluring tone, "and I'm sure you want one too."
"Well I do to a degree," Nala replied, "..."
