Todd decided to call James, the only person who actually took the time to get to know you at school. Dialing his number, he felt a weird sensation, as if someone was looking over his shoulder. Todd turned around but saw no one there then turned back just as James answered. "He... Hello?"
"James, this is Todd." he said. "Something really strange is happening to me."
"Same here, I just got off the phone with Jake." replied James, shaken. "He went to watch his brother Sam work out at the gym and nearly wrecked the place with some new found strength." there was a pause. "As for me, I've been picking up people's thoughts like a radio picks up signals."
"That is weird." said Todd. "A car nearly hit me and I jumped out of the way, ten feet out of the way! Then, walking up stairs to take a shower, I was on the top of the stairwell before I remember touching the first step."
"Weird is not the word for this, man." said James. "At first, I thought I was going insane but hearing Jake's and your stories, I think something happened to us while we were out cold on that soccer field.."
"But what?" asked Todd, frustrated. "We could not have been out cold for more than five minutes."
"I'm at a loss to explain it too." replied James. "Jake has no ideas either."
"What about the others?" asked Todd. "Has anyone called them?"
Just then a third voice echoed through the phone. It sounded like a frightened little girl. "Is... Is anyone out... out there?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Please, someone answer me! I... I'm scared!"
Suddenly, Todd's eyes widened as she remembered seeing a little girl watching the practice game from the bleachers!
"I hear you." he said.
"I hear you too." said James. "Who are you?"
The girl gave a hick-up type laugh while still crying. "Thank goodness some heard me!" she sobbed. "I am..."
