James, Julia, and Newton's 2nd Law

Julia continues "This example will take us right into Newton's 2nd law. Essentially, force equals mass times accelaration."

She lifted James, still trying to catch his breath, off of the desk.

"This means that the the amount of force an object will be able to apply is based on the mass of the object and how quickly that object is moving. Once again, Mr. Smith will serve as our example." She lifts James high above her desk once again and drops him, letting him once again free fall onto the desk.

"Because of Mr. Smith's small mass, and because he didn't get much of an opportunity to accelerate, he hit the desk with very little force. Now, if we were to change one of those variables...." she started, once again peeling James from the desk and discretely removing her sandals and lifting him high above her head.

She redirected her attention to her students, ignoring the small teacher's struggles and cries for help. "For example, if we start his descent from a higher point, he'll deliver a much greater force." She let James free fall once again, but this time he flew past the desk crashing onto the cold hard tiled floor at her feet. If he had any wind in his body, James would have been able to vouch for Julia’s claim, as he felt this impact much more.

“As the law states, there is one other way to increase force, and that’s by changing the mass of the object delivering that force. Obviously there’s not much we can do to change Mr. Smith’s mass, so I will serve as a substitute.” She said, climbing on top of her desk. James meekly looked up at her, unable to summon the energy to try and escape or even beg.

Without a word, Julia lept straight up into the air off of her desk, sending her bare feet crashing on top of James, flattening him onto the cold and unforgiving surface beneath them.

Julia smiled to herself as she enjoyed the feeling of the tiny teacher beneath her perfectly smooth and manicured feet. She did not move as she continued with her lecture.

“In this example, you got to see both of Newton’s first laws in action at the same time. I was in motion until the solid mass of the floor delivered enough of a force to stop me. That happened with Mr. Smith’s fall as well, but because of his small mass he created a much smaller force than I did with my landing. Any questions before we move on?” Julia asked her students. As she waited for a response, she slowly and unnoticeably shifted her weight on top of the defenseless teacher underneath her, grinding her feet and creating more pressure, sure to enjoy every second of the experience.
