Kevin stabbed the send button with all his pent up frustration. Not expecting anything to happen, just happy to vent his feelings. However, as he did, Jason seemed to fade away into a fog. That engulfed him, and erased his familiar friend, and the surroundings from reality.
Kevin was lost and alone in the featureless mist for an unknown time, before he started to see some pale shapes and colours fade back into existence. Squinting to make out the various shapes, he was tantalised by the idea that he was going to get his wish.
As reality solidified, and slipped into focus Kevin was delighted to see it was a house, and it was massive and impressive. Punching the air in victory, he was getting a better family. Looking around he was sad to see that Jason wasn't with him. Saddened by the loss, but comforted by the thought of what he was getting. He told himself that Jason wasn't appropriate company.
Reaching to pick up one of the expensive looking ornaments, his hand passed through it. While the room looked solid, and he did too. He wasn't ... in phase, with it yet.
Walking about there was no sound from his steps on the wooden floor. Finding himself in front of a mirror, he was startled by the reflection there. It wasn't Kevin as he recognised himself, but the mirror copied his every move perfectly.
Gasping in shock, he realised that was the person he was becoming in this better family....
