This choice: Decides against it; does something else • Go Back...Chapter #6Decides against it; does something else by: Unknown "Wait!" Amanda interjected. "We've still got a lot of space on my camera. How about a few more pics, just a few?"
"Yeah! Can we, please? My boyfriend will dig this shit," I said.
"We've got more than enough," Jessica said. "How many more poses do you think a valley girl can come up wi...?"
Jessica's words trailed off as she put her fingers to her chin and considered a new option in her head. A devious smile spread across her face, and she paced back and forth. Both Amanda and I watched her closely, wondering what she had in mind. Amanda probably had a few ideas, being her twin, while I barely had enough cognitive strength to consider anything beyond the material world and body I inhabited. I could only hope it involved a new swimsuit, even more revealing than the one I currently wore.
"Unless," Jessica finally continued, "we make another quick personality change and see how that changes her posture."
None of that sentence made sense to me, but Amanda broke out into a smile. "Ooh, of course! That's so brilliant, Jessica! What were you thinking?"
But Jessica had already snapped her fingers. My head throbbed, and I opened my head to say, "Gawd!" or something equally brainless when my intelligence returned. I once again had a grasp of all the high school subjects I excelled at - math, social studies, science - and more! Suddenly, I understood Spanish, loved creative writing, and knew how to play volleyball like a pro. All this knowledge, however, came with an acute awareness of how Amanda and Jessica were judging me. It wasn't the embarrassment of a boy who's found himself in the body of a girl, half-naked and exposed like never before. I knew what it was like to be a girl, have boobs, a vagina, etc., but a strong sense of modesty and an overriding shyness controlled my behavior. I couldn't help but blush and turn away slightly from my sisters.
"Please," I said. "Do you have to be here while I'm in this...?"
"It's okay, sis," Jessica said. "We just want a few pics with you smiling, and then you can get dressed as you usually do."
As you usually do, I understood, meant a sweater, pair of jeans, and a sports bra, all for the sake of hiding my curves, and I wanted that badly. Still, I fretted. Why do they have to see me like this? I wondered.
"Will you put these online?" I asked.
"No," Jessica said, but the way Amanda glared at her meant that, yes, they'd be online, probably somewhere I'd see them eventually. Oh no, I thought. Not on my Facebook!
But not wanting to be in this bikini too much longer, I nodded quickly and Jessica took the camera first. Amanda stepped beside me and whispered, "It'll be all right, sis!" She patted me on the shoulder and I mustered a smile. I held my hands together awkwardly and blushed. It was a struggle to keep from touching my hair, face, or body in a display of discomfort.
"Ready..." Jessica said. "Smile!"  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
