apes attacking the village.

Spyro and Cynder flew at a breakneck pace, their wings pumping as hard as they could. The scent of burned wood filled the air and, as they got closer, they heard the sounds of people crying out in fear.

Their blood ran cold. Before them laid a village that was being attacked by a group of bloodthirsty apes. They didn't hesitate. They dove right into the chaos.

The attackers gave a mighty fright when fire and acid rained down from the heavens. The villagers - who where all leopards - looked up and saw two dragons hurtling down on a squid of apes.

They smashed into them, causing a big explosion and killing a dozen of those brutes. The villagers cheered and, filled with new hope, took up arms again.

And so they fought on, pushing back the wave of apes and winning the battle, unaware of the ominous figure standing on a hill, overlooking this scene with a sneer.

"You think you can win this battle, purple dragon?" he thought to himself, "Well, think again!"

In his hand was a staff with a green gem on the other end. He lift it up and aimed at Spyro. The energy swirled inside the staff before it shot out a green beam.

Cynder's eye caught the flash of light. "Spyro, watch out!" she yelled.

Spyro turned his head to the side and saw the beam shooting towards him.

There was no time to move out of the way!

What happens next...

1. Spyro is shot by the beam.
