It was cold in Station Square today. Far too cold for a trip to the nearest Walmart; at least for someone who had never bought herself a coat in all her life. Amy reflected on this incredibly short sighted decision of hers as she rummaged through her fridge looking for something to eat. All she could find at the moment were a few slices of Bread, some Minced Beef left over from last night's failed attempt at cooking Lasagna (the less said about that the better) and one or two vegetables. She sighed as she examined the paltry selection available to her. "Maybe I could give Sonic a call and ask him to go pick up some pastries for me" she said to herself. She mentally slapped herself the moment those words came out of her mouth.
"Come on Amy, you promised that you wouldn't go to Sonic for every problem of yours. You're not an 11 year old anymore. You can take care of yourself just fine without him... Although it has been a rather long time since we last talked. Maybe we could catch up with each other and then I could ask- NO!" she interrupted herself. "It's been only 2 weeks since your last conversation with him. He's probably got a lot of personal stuff he needs to figure out. It would be unbelievably rude to butt in and ask for help at a time like that." Amy's hand was firmly placed on her phone and trembling with the stress. She had promised that this year she would try to give Sonic more breathing room. He had turned 18 after all, and he was beginning to make a new life for himself outside of his escapades with Eggman as a Postman. Amy giggled a little at the thought of Sonic wearing a blue cap and suit with a mailbag around his waist. Knowing him, everyone's mail would probably get delivered yesterday.
But her thoughts soon returned to the dilemma of her current situation. Amy lifted the phone off it's stand and started to enter Sonic's phone number only to stop before the last 3 numbers. Was it her right to ask this of her love? Her finger hovered over the number pad eager to complete the ritual of button presses it had begun a mere 5 seconds before but yet could now hardly move an inch. Amy knew she had to make a choice. She couldn't put this off any longer. It was now or never. She inhaled slowly and made her decision.
