As she lay against the flimsy floor of the wooden lifeboat, she felt a swelling of the water around her, rocking her precarious lifeline to safety. There was nothing on the ocean's surface as far as she could see, but she could see, far beneath, the undulations of a vast and ominous shape. A sigh of despair escaped her. She was in no position to fight. Whatever beast sought to make a meal of her, she had no choice but to surrender to it.
Perhaps, though, "beast" was the wrong word... she saw the outline of a pale hand gleaming in the moonlight as it broke the water's surface.
She sat up, staring in shock and terror, as an arm followed, a shoulder, a neck, a pointed ear, a cheek - then a head, shapely breasts, a whole immense torso, rocking her little lifeboat as salt water spilled over the immense body. The pitch-dark hair curled over the being's shoulders. The feminine lips curled in a coy smile, the eyes closed. They opened, and they were an alluring blue. Then the being's body bent over, arm curling, in an elaborate and formal bow.
"Welcome, visitor to my domain." Mischief glinted in those eyes. "Although by most definitions, you'd be called a trespasser."
Overcome with awe and sudden terror the likes of which she'd never before known, Maria blurted...
