Before Maria could react, Nelly lunged forward and kissed her passionately. It felt good - and weird. Maria thought she felt something going down her throat before everything went hazy.
When she woke up, she was still in the lifeboat. She no longer felt cold. Her skin itched beneath her clothing. She had a pair of slits on her sides. And Nelly had now removed her top to reveal a pair of rather enticing breasts.
"What... did you do to me?" Maria asked.
"I kissed you," Nelly smiled. "I also made a few changes to help you survive underwater. You can breathe underwater now - those are gills. And your body can withstand much more pressure. And you no longer have any body hair, except on your head. Instead, you have a thin layer of blubber beneath your skin to keep you warm."
"My skin feels itchy," Maria moaned.
"Side effect of having no hair. Your best bet is to take off your clothes."
Fortunately, Maria wasn't very modest. Her clothes were soon a pile in one corner of the lifeboat. Nelly put them into the first aid kit, which she then removed from the lifeboat itself.
