"Fortune please." Kirsten replied as she sat down at the round table and pulled four gold coins from her purse.
"My, my, aren't we generously presumptuous." Aleta said with a smile as she sat across from Kirsten.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I-" Kirsten stammered, remembering old tales of misfortune following one after insulting a gypsy.
"It's quite alright dear," Aleta said taking only two of the coins in Kirsten's hand, "Just wait until you are charged next time."
"Now then, let us see what the spirits will tell me about you and what awaits you." Aleta said as she gazed into the crystal ball. After a few moments Kirsten noticed the gypsy's half open eyes glazing over slightly, and then Aleta spoke again. "Ah… I see the ocean and sails; you are going on the ship at the docks to… to seek a new life in a new land, to escape a dark moment in your past."
Kirsten nodded, what the gypsy saw was true. The dark moment was several weeks ago when her parents were murdered and robbed. Then criminal was eventually found and hung for the crimes, but Kirsten still had nightmares of the deed's aftermath and of the man returning for her. As a last resort she was leaving the village, hoping to leave the nightmares behind.
