"Are you being nice 'cause you feel bad...

He asks her (the above title). She looks down at him in surprise for the first time and Mark wonders if this is good or bad.
"Mark, although I do feel bad for you, the truth is that I really like you," she said softly, "and ever since I heard that you were coming to [insert school name here] I had always wanted to help. I mean.. I don't want you to take it the wrong way.."
Mark feels bad. He smiles kindly and replies "I was just asking. I've had some unfriendly encounters before and it's only the first day, don't hold yourself uptight." She replies...
