Chapter #3Rejected! by: Rabies "I... It's Brad! He dumped me!" You hear a quiver in her voice, it sounds like she's on the verge of tears.
You respond immediately, "I'll be right over."
Throwing on a coat in the cool autumn weather, you rush out the door, and into your car. Kate's house is only a few blocks away, and you pull up in front of her house in minutes. You knock on the door and Kate answers it, looking like a disheveled mess. She's wearing a tank top and short jeans, and shivering. You can't tell if that's just from the cold, or from the fact that she seems to be desperately trying not to cry.
She ushers you inside, and you both end up sitting on her couch. It looks like her parents are gone for the evening. Holding her hands, and looking at her distraught face, in a kind voice, you say, "Tell me what happened."
"Well," she starts, "I... I thought he might've been cheating on me. I kept smelling some other bitch on him... And so, when I saw him tonight... I-I-I-I I asked a-huh-about it..." She's barely able to contain herself, nearly sobbing several times, and she keeps making a sound like a dog whining.
You give her a comforting pat, "Go on, let it all out..."
"Wuh-*whine*-well... He-he-he said that I just wasn't the right girl for him... An-and he wu-*whine*-was leaving me for some... Some MONGREL WHORE!" The sudden angry outburst catches you off guard, before she buries her face in her hands, you lean over and drape your arms over her, to comfort her, "Some flea-bitten bitch he met upstate! He ditched me like some mangy runt! Oh gods! Am I really worse than that bitch?"
You see this is your time to intervene, "No, no, come on Kate. Don't be silly, Brad's an idiot for dumping you. Of course, if he's that stupid, you're probably better off without him."
"Yuh-you know wha-*whine-what the worst bit is?" she starts, "I can't even cry about it! Cuz then I'll lose control and scare you and you'll hate me and I'll never see you again!"
This is a bit of an odd development, you're not sure what she means by lose control, but you feel the need to reassure her, "Don't be silly Kay, you're my best friend. Nothing could make me hate you."
"Really?"
"Of course, now let's have a good cry." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
