Medli knew that Tetra was Link's friend, but to her, she was a pirate. And generally, pirates weren't the nicest of people. If Tetra caught on that Medli wasn't actually Link, things might go bad. So, doing the first thing that came to her mind, Medli quickly waved the Swap Wand, which she had been hiding behind her back, switching Tetra's mind for someone else's, like she had done to herself and Link. She didn't really care who got swapped right now, just so long it was someone she knew, one of her friends. She could probably explain all this better to them than she could to Tetra.
