This choice: They bump into Olivia's 10-year old sister, Emma. • Go Back... "Ah! I'm gonna be late! Oh no!" A little blonde girl of about 10 yelps in distress, trying to rush to her next class. The girl's name is Emma, and her older sister is the dwarfish Olivia. Emma is about 4'5" tall, pretty average for her age, with just the slightest bumps on her otherwise flat chest where her breasts are starting to come in. Because of this, people often got the sisters confused with regard to who's older, something neither of them particularly liked.
Where Olivia has always been about the nicest girl anyone could meet, Emma is... considerably less so. She's not by any means mean, but she's had to toughen up for her sometimes overly sensitive sister's sake so she'd have one less thing to worry about. She had called Olivia a name once in their lives, and it took over a day to coax her to stop wailing long enough to apologize. Aside from that one little incident, the sisters get along well. She's been happy to see that Olivia isn't as sensitive these days as she was before, but calling her short would set off the fountain of tears.
Emma is so preoccupied with trying to get to class that she collides straight into another girl just as they both round the corner, knocking them both down onto their butts. "Owie... I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going!" she apologizes.
"No, the fault is all mine... I should have been paying attention." the girl responds.
It's then that the two finally look at each other, recognizing one another almost immediately. Well, it takes a tad longer for Emma to recognize the tall, buxom girl is indeed her older sister Olivia. "...Olivia? Oh my gosh... I knew you'd grown an inch this morning, but... this is way more than that now! What happened?" she starts asking, hardly believing her eyes.
"I hate to interrupt, but we really don't have time to sit here and chat. The hall monitors will be patrolling here any minute and we need to get out of here!" Jack implores, even as he offers his hand to help first Emma then Olivia to their feet and hoping the latter doesn't take offense to this. He's friends with Emma due to her and Olivia being sisters and thus often around when he visits their house, though whether this would remain true later on in life should he and Olivia grow closer as teenagers is unknown.
Curious, Emma follows her sister and their friend outside. Once they stop, she can get a better idea of how Olivia has changed since this morning. There's no question now who's the older sister, though outside of her face, few would guess Olivia is merely 12. Indeed, she's well above what's normal for her age, a welcome change from being so far below it for years. Unfortunately, her clothes haven't fared well, now being ridiculously small on her and ripped and torn in many places. It's also a little odd to see her golden blonde hair down as opposed to the ponytail it's usually kept in...
For Olivia, seeing her once taller but younger sister now so much shorter than her really sinks in how much she's grown just this morning. Sure, she's a little taller than Jack, but Emma's face is one she sees everyday along with... their mom. "Oh crud..." she exclaims worriedly, "How are we going to explain this to mom?"
"Um, how about first telling me what happened, sis? Did you eat anything funny? Did Jessica do something to you... er, worse than her usual mean remarks?" Emma asks.
"I haven't eaten anything since breakfast this morning, and I don't think there was anything off about it... Jessica only called me a little girl, though now she'd have little choice but to take it back." Olivia answers and then explains, "I've... just been growing in these odd spurts all morning. Jack even saw me grow a little while ago! I-I knew I was a bit of a late bloomer, but this? I don't think this was quite what they meant..." she asks with worry, "D-does this make me a freak?"
"No!" is the reply from both Emma and Jack simultaneously. While they said it to avoid her breaking into tears over what's happening to her, if indeed it happens again, their response is also genuine. They would respond the same way even if she was over a hundred feet tall: to them, she's still the same Olivia they've known for years, only bigger. Now if she were to snap and turn nasty that's another story, but so far she hasn't shown any sign of that happening...
"O-okay then..." Olivia says, feeling relieved that the two people who mean the most to her don't think she's a freak and seeing no reason not to trust their opinions. She still has a little ways to go before she hits the overall size she'd dreamed of one day being, that being a little over 6 feet with just barely D-cup breasts to get the attention of boys without going too far into what could be seen as slutty, (though she doesn't realize people like Jessica would call her that anyway just to be mean) but she guesses she may hit that in a few days at worst if her spurts continue.
That's something still conflicting in her mind, the joyous feelings in the moment clashing with some now surfacing concerns that she may become teased for being so tall. (and possibly becoming even taller) Recently, she's gotten better at not letting it show her feelings have been hurt, but the teasing still happens. Then again, she does feel good about herself for the first time in years, and that air of self-confidence may help her be less of an easy target...
At any rate, the three kids agree that Olivia needs a new set of clothes, but first should be looked at by the school nurse so she at least had a viable reason for missing the rest of school. Emma opts to go back in to get the nurse, feeling she might be believed more than Jack, leaving him and Olivia outside.
"Do you feel cold at all?" Jack asks his best friend both out of concern and to help pass the time.
"Not at all... nor do I feel all that hungry yet." she replies, trying not to think about why this is.
Eventually, Emma returns with the school nurse, a decently attractive woman likely in her late 20's to early 30's. She and Olivia can almost look eye to eye, something that thrills the towering preteen a little, having never been nearly at eye level with an adult before. The nurse performs a few basic tests and asks some simple questions. Finally, the nurse admits that while her tests haven't shown anything out of the ordinary, it may be best for Olivia to take the rest of the day off to acquire some school appropriate clothing if nothing else and recommends seeing her family doctor about her sudden puberty. She also allows Emma and Jack to accompany their friend.
The three walk to Olivia and Emma's house, the driveway devoid of cars with the girls' parents having gone off to work. Fortunately, Olivia still has her house key on her, as she's not sure how she'd live with herself if she lost it. She unlocks the front door and the three go inside, with Olivia darting for her parents room to put on her mom's clothes. They're a bit loose, her mom still taller than her, but it would have to do until she can get to the mall and buy some new clothes. She hopes she won't outgrow them, as her allowance money can only go so far... ![](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/info/interactive-2.png) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
