Negative, they are a good source of cruel fun

Most days, Jessica sat content in the seclusion of her mountain fortress. The citadel was nestled between three mountain peaks overlooking the lush lands below. The three mountains were the highest point of land for miles in any direction, although to call them mountains was stretching the trust a great deal. The huge lumps in the ground were barely worth of the title, but when everything else was flat the word mountain sufficed. Jessica's seat of power used to belong to some lord or another, whose family's exalted rear had sat in their fancy chair for many generations. Then Jessica decided it would make an excellent 18th birthday present to herself and took it. Now her rather larger butt sat on the keep, long ago crumbled from the giantess's tremendous weight. Taking the jumble of stones had been a very simple business. At eighteen she had already been nearly 150 feet, so she stepped over the 50 foot tall walls and into the courtyard. Crush the garrison that hadn't fled, walk past following strongpoints on the way to the top of the mountains, and step daintily into the inner keep. Once there, sit down on the fancy rectangle housing the lord and his family, and the castle was hers. All the survivors had fled into the towns dispersed along the valley floor, although that didn't guarantee them safety from Jessica's adventuring. Over her three years' occupation, Jessica and the tinies she had come to rule had struck a form of understanding. She was an all-powerful giantess, and took what she wanted. It wasn't too excessive, and never left too many starving. In return the inhabitants wouldn't rise up against her and die, and wouldn't deny her any of her wants. A few villages had tried at first. Those villages had simply ceased to exist, and no survivors lived to tell tales of what had happened. But occasionally some workers would also journey up to her castle to keep it well in order, even if its only inhabitant was much too large to live in it. These laborers were generally treated well, and almost always returned. Only when Jessica was feeling especially playful, hungry, or lonely did problems arise.
Jessica tried to keep rampaging to a minimum, and understood that it tended to tick people off. That's not to say it didn't happen, although villages with lots of food to give up as offering were often spared the worst. Any towns beyond her domain were at constant risk of instant annhiliation at any point in time. She had also learned that other lords considered themselves as good as herself, and felt hurt when she killed their villagers. When several got angered, things got serious. Her most recent swaths of destruction had covered all lands and people, for the most part excluding her own. And as a result, a massive army marched itself across her lands. At night she could see thousands of fires burning as the horde inched closer day by day. Jessica had decided to let it come to her fortress unmolested. Her greeting would be so earnest, it would knock them dead.
