Just as he put the cookies in to bake, there is a knock on the door.
"Oh goodness me, who could that be?"
Adam headed across the floor, and when he got to the door he asked who it was.
"I am Sarah from across the hall, just came over to say hi."
Adam opened the door and invited her in.
Sarah entered and had a seat on the couch, while Adam checked the cookies and returned to the room and took a seat in a rocking chair.
"Wow, this place screams gramma," Sarah commented.
"Yes, I suppose it does," Adam replied, and felt a sense of contentment as he did.
"By the way, where did you get that old army shirt?"
"That was in my room across the hall. I think it belonged to an old soldier at some time. There are medals and war pictures, some clothing that looks like an old duffer wore it."
A moment later, a timer went off and Adam excused himself to check the cookies.
"They are hot out of the oven, would you like one or two?"
