You were having a normal day at work. A pretty good one actually. The guy at the cube opposite yours, Roy, was being downright pleasant today. You had a fairly pleasant stand up meeting with your boss Siobhan and the rest of the reports team. Man, she'd been intimidating when you joined, considering that she's 5'10" plus whatever heel she was wearing.
You're an analyst. Roy jokingly calls you an "Excel Jockey" but you're precise, careful and good with numbers which has helped to keep your company in the black for the past five years here. After you solved an accounts problem before the big audit you have been long overdue for a promotion.
The pay is good and it kept you, your wife and your two wonderful, if frustrating daughters in your home. It also kept you in your suits. You were careful and may be the father of two children, but that doesn't mean you have to dress like it. A well fitted shirt and a bold tie made you feel like you could still keep swinging with younger guys like Roy. Man that guy could drink, no surprise considering the dude's 6'4" frame.
Looking out at the grey cube walls and below the fluorescent lights you sighed, it was nice here but a bit drool. It'd be nice if something big would happen. Something like....
