You don't want to upset her any further so you follow her into the daycare centre.
"How may I help you?" The receptionist asks as you enter.
"I'd like to enroll Daniel here in daycare." Your mother says, approaching the counter.
"You mean after-school care?" The woman asks. "We only have daycare for up to 5-years old. The older kids come in after school."
"I don't mind him being with the younger kids." Your mother says. "He's been acting rather childish recently."
"I'll have to talk to the teachers." The receptionist says. "Please wait here."
You and your mother stand there in uncomfortable silence until she returns.
"I'm afraid that the 3 to 5 class is full." She says. "However, there is room with the under-threes."
"That's fine." Your mother says. "Can he start now?"
"Yes" she says. "But there is one difficulty. We have a rule that all students in the under-threes must be diapered while in daycare. We had a few too many accidents from kids whose parents insisted they were potty trained."
"You can't expect me to wear a diaper." you say.
"I'm afraid that there are no exceptions." The receptionist says.
"Well then there's no way you're enrolling me in that class." You insist.
"You can either wear diaper here during the day or wear diapers full-time at home." Your mother threatens.
