Some hours later, after signing off for the night, Kess had returned to the Seamstress' Guild, where he met up with the Head Seamstress.
"It was good of you to come when you did," the woman said. "Rose has been talking about how you caught that unlicensed thief who threatened her, and robbed me."
"It was nothing really," said Kess. "I was merely passing by when he jumped out of the window. I guess he misjudged the height, and broke his leg. Didn't really have to chase him. Of course, the fact that he had a knife out, kind of obvious about his intentions."
"Still, it was good of you to be where you were in order to capture him," said the woman. "If I caught him, well, I have devices that makes even the hardiest of my clientele beg for release rather quickly. Even the Head Torturer is impressed by some of them."
"Yes, but I expect that you tend to employ those devices with a safety system in place to make sure that no one is seriously injured," said Kess. "You don't want the Commander to shut the place down you know."
"Of course I employ safety measures," the woman said. "Many people are repeat customers."
"Are your employees into such things?" Kess asked.
The woman looked him over. "There's a few who don't mind being restrained. Rose is one of them."
"I guess that's good to know," said Kess.
"By the way, your visit is on the house," the woman said. "It's the least we can do."
"Alright," said Kess.
Kess then slithered his way towards Rose's room. As he did, he heard plenty of sounds of what was going on in the other rooms. It wasn't much of a secret as to what occurred at the Seamstress Guild, in a number of ways, although the name of being a Seamstress was much more polite than being called a Prostitute. Besides, some of them actually engaged in mending clothes while the client was busy. Also, there were other things that they did.
Soon enough, Kess entered Rose's room.
"I was wondering when you'd show up," she said.
"Had to fill out paperwork," said Kess.
"So, what do you want?" Rose asked.
