For a moment, there was hope. But when Sonic turned back, the look in his eyes told Vector one thing - he was doomed. Sonic struggled out of the crocodile's grip for a moment, screaming in fury. Not wanting to alert anyone, Vector pinned Sonic to the ground, one hand over his mouth, the other over his neck. Sonic struggled, screaming muffled death threats to Vector.
The crocodile, to his horror, realized that Sonic would never let him go. That he'd hunt him to the ends of the earth and kill him to 'avenge' Amy. The situation was now, to Vector's dismay... kill or be killed...
"I'm sorry," he said quietly. Using his greater weight, he pinned the hedgehog underneath him. He moved his hand so that Sonic's nose was covered as well as his mouth, and also tightened his grip around Sonic's neck. He could feel blood vessels bursting, bones crunching, as he squeezed Sonic's neck, the grief-maddened heroes eyes widening in growing fear as life began to leave him. He thrashed about, desperately wheezing, his struggles growing weaker... weaker... until finally, he slumped over. Vector looked into Sonic's dead eyes, saw the hatred frozen in them, and looked away.
"Damn it... DAMN IT!" Vector snarled. He was being set up. But who? Why? He had paid all his bills. He was generally a nice guy. Who could have done this?
As he looked over the corpses of Amy and Sonic, a new thought occurred to him. How am I going to cover all this up? I can't investigate who's framing me if I'm on trial for murder...
