"I'm burned, torn to pieces, and sliced up but I'm not dead!" summoning some courage, Cory barked.
All three figures froze, looking stunned as they heard Cory's voice. "He's alive!" whispering, Blank said. "Perhaps just barely, but he's still alive!"
"The little shit won't live long if he was bitten." darkly, Lenggries said. "We're taking one hell of a chance..."
"Then don't follow me." sternly, James said. "My mission has not changed. I have to stop this, meaning closing the doors that were open by those suicidal cultists."
"Its a one way trip, Anderson." warning him, Petrova said. "You may not survive long enough to reach the gates, let alone seal them with the amount of hell-spawn that is certain to be coming through."
"If I do not try, the gates will remain open and your mission will be a futile point as all of Earth will be living in hell." with a deadly seriousness, James replied. "Now then, are we going to continue squabbling over Cory here or are we going to shut up and do our jobs?"
Lenggries turned red. "I don't take orders from you!" angrily, he barked.
Suddenly, Cory gasped. "They're coming!" terrified, he whispered. "From that room, I can feel them coming!" he pointed to the room the three came from. "Dead people are coming!"
Now hearing the low moans of zombies echoing in the room behind him, Lenggries turned and fired his mini-gun at the advancing figures. Only they kept coming. "Damn it!" angry, he screamed. "You have to rip them completely apart to kill these fucking things!"
"Their heads!" frantic, Cory yelled. "Hit their heads!"
Lenggries grunted and moved his aim at the zombies heads then grinned darkly as they fell like flies. "Die, bastards!" after loading another chain of ammunition, he yelled. "Back to hell with you!"
Once all was quiet again, Petrova ran back and pushed the door closed before sealing it. "If the kid had not, err, felt them coming, we would not have had a chance." glancing at Cory, she said. "Thanks, kid."
A small grin formed onto Cory's burned face. "I'm not dead yet."
Upon looking at Cory again, James saw that he was not decaying but burned, as he had said. Only his unnatural cold body made him worry. "He's not dead yet." he thought. "Let's hope it stays that way."
"You are welcome to join our team, the kid too." serious, Blank said. "Just bear in mind. The second he turns on us, I will kill him myself."
James nodded darkly, he knew Blank was not bluffing.
