"Launching now, captain." his comm badge chirped as he tapped it off.
The captain headed for the bridge. But he couldn't settle his growing sense of discomfort. "Bridge keep a constant lock on Mr. Data."
"Aye, Captain." The gruff but very competent tones of Worf answered.
Data found a large open space at the co-ordinates and landed there. There was a significant security contingent there, and a wide range of weaponry, against all types of assault.
As he stepped out from the shuttle, the cargo was immediately apparent, a large crate that would barely fit in the shuttle. The four men surrounding it had serious expressions on their faces.
A man strode over to Data, "I'm Captain Phillips and I'll be accompanying the cargo."
Data tilted his head, "That won't be necesssary. The security and safety plans don't allow for an escort for it." he said calmly.
Captain Phillips' breath hissed between his teeth, "I'm afraid it isn't negociable. Both sides need to verify that the final product isn't tampered with en route."
Data wasn't easily dissuaded. "The cargo will be kept in a vacuum under my oversight. I'm an android and don't need air for survival. So you see that you can't escort the cargo."
"If the virus samples arrive without me. Then the whole process is meaningless, neither side will accept that the virus has actually been destroyed...." His tone became angrier, "Do you have any idea how difficult it was to get both sides even this far?"
