Luke started off down the corridor alone. He had first encountered his new group of friends (if they could be called that) when the virus outbreak had caused his two room mates to turn into immobile blobs of fat. Upon realising that the whole campus had been exposed to infection, Luke was invited to join the one group of students who were still uninfected by Erica, who had been a classmate of his.
Despite his passing familiarity with Erica, Luke had not really bonded with any of the members of his new social circle. He didn't seem to have much in common with any of them, with the possible exception of Dee - who seemed to possess a keen interest in science - but Luke, not being the most confident guy in the room, had shied away from attempts at conversation with the beautiful blonde. Next to guys like Kyle and Josh, he just faded into the background. They weren't a bad group of people, but Luke did not make friends easily, and being locked up with a bunch of strangers during a bizarre expansion plague wasn't exactly the best way to meet new people.
Truth be told, he was glad to finally have some time to himself. Being shacked up with the other students for so long in that tiny dorm room had been pretty uncomfortable.
He rounded a corner, removed his glasses, polished them and put them back on. Peering down the hallway, he saw no signs of movement, which was honestly a big relief. He had no objection to helping people in need, but these weren't exactly safe times...you never knew who was infected, or who might turn on you at any minute...
