Cooperate in changing times

Lindsey took a shaky breath. “If I cooperate, you will find what is wrong with me, yes? And I stay conscious for all of this, so I know what is going on?”

Looking up at the window, Doctor Von Shout replied, “I feel that, for everyone’s sake, it would be best to not agitate your body with outside factors, so as to prevent further contamination within your body, or potentially releasing this ‘slimy blob’ into other humans.” With a sign of consent from the observation deck, the head scientist motioned for the other yellow figures to move away from Lindsey, and gestured for her to take a resting position on the table.

Lindsey glided over to the table, and rested her back on the cold steel surface.

Doctor Von Shout looked up at the observation window. He announced, “We are going to start with a CAT scan. This will show us the young lady’s bones and lungs. If we observe a lack of any foreign objects or explanations, we can get her blood tests started and begin an MRI for any muscle and spinal damage or tumors. However, the MRI will require a half hour for results to come back.” He looked down at the patient asking, “Is that all right with you?”

Lindsey glared at him. “Just get this over with.” Silently, she wanted to thank the doctor for including that description to tell her what was going on in this sterile nightmare. Two of the yellow figures rolled over a scanning device for the CAT scan. The fourth figure sat down at a desk with computer screens, so to begin analyzing the images as they developed.

“Hold still please,” one of the figures mumbled through the mask as they brought the scanner over her head. “Here we go.” Four minutes later, they were done, and rolled the scanner back to the wall.

The analyst scientist looked up at the observation booth and announced, "It appears that her bones are ..."
