After glancing around again to be absolutely certain the elderly proprietor is nowhere to be seen, you grin mischievously. You're not usually a thief, but this opportunity is so perfect it would be even more criminal to pass it up!
Eyes darting around the shop, you look for objects with which you might abscond. There's that gum, from earlier, of course, if you feel like being cautious--something so small should be easy to slip into a pocket, and the low value would help minimize the risk if by some miracle the old man actually caught you. Then again, does gum even really count?
The expensive-looking jewelry would certainly make for a more dramatic heist, and would be nearly as easy to scoop into your pockets. That would certainly give you something to boast about, far more than the gum.
On the other hand, if you really wanted to make a statement, that old statue could be even more dramatic! Making off with a stone statue nearly as tall as you are would be quite the feat, no question about it, but with the proprietor absent and probably senile at that, you might just be able to pull it off!
