Misty had spent four years away from Ash, the sight of his face in the forefront of her mind, constantly seeing his face whenever she took a moment to rest from gym leading. On the whole, it was a rather stressful four years, yet at the same time awfully empty. Nothing truly happened at all during that four years in Misty's life. Trainers came into the gym, trainers fought her, and then they either left with a Cascade Badge or, more often than not, left empty handed.
The only thing Misty did other than fight Pokemon battles for those four years was swim, which was something she did quite frequently. She'd go for a dip in the pools of Cerulean Gym, or perhaps go off to some other body of water to both train and have some fun. The simple fact of the matter was that, for all intents and purposes, she was bored. Deeply and profoundly bored, not to mention sad.
The only joyous things that happened to her was when she'd see Ash on the television, when someone would bring up something nostalgic from the past, or, best yet, have a run in with the guy she knew she was in love with. It's strange how she'd feel that strongly toward someone she only met when she was a little girl, but she was in love. There, it was out in the open, plain for all to see.
It was one day she went to visit Delia, however, that everything would change...
