Chapter #3
A random stranger on the street
by: Unknown
You feel you must feed, but you feel wrong feeding on a human. You ponder the idea of feeding on some nearby animals, maybe the dog next door who constantly shits in yard, or the some cows in the country, the drive isn't that far. But you know you don't have much time. Now it's starting to ache...a crazy burning feeling in the back of your throat. What to do... You stumble to the front door, wondering if it is safe to step outside with this growing hunger. Turning the handle you wonder if this is just a dream; how can this happen? Vampires aren't real!
Touching the new sharpened teeth to your lips you realize it "feels" real.
"This is crazy." you whisper to yourself.
You then step out onto the porch. Your porch light has been extinguished which makes it easier to stay hidden. You look around a bit thinking, 'who would taste good?'
"Eeeww..." you feel disgusting for this longing of human blood.
The night air feels hot on your skin. You touch your hand to your face and notice the irresistible softness of it. You are still in shock. Walking off of the porch you realize there is a man walking down the sidewalk with his dog. You contemplate the dog...no, that would be too easy. Maybe a bit of a struggle would be fun.
You begin to walk towards the man and surprisingly he doesn't hear you. Your feet on the pavement are as soft as your fingertips were on your face. You gently lag behind the man waiting for the perfect moment. Then all of a sudden he rounds on you.
"You must be new." he says. "Can you not smell me?"
Huh? What's this? You look at him a bit closer as he smiles at you. You can see his teeth, sharper than yours. Is he....he is.
"You are...."
"Yes, like you, a vampire. What did you expect? And why were you following me? Don't you think it might be a little conspicuous? Do you really want people to know about you?"
As he spoke you realized that you COULD smell him. As he moved you could swear there were roses coming from his hair, perfume from his mouth and damn...something sweet and sugary from his skin. How did you not notice that?
"I...I'm sorry. I'm so confused. This rock...it...well, I don't know what it did. But I wasn't like this." you stumble your words.
"That rock, I've seen it before. Wait! Where did you get that?! That rock is of high importance! Give it to me! Now!" he screamed.
The man suddenly lunges at you letting go of his fleeing dog, his teeth and anger bearing.
