You looked for how your wish would manifest itself. You wanted it to take its time and you couldn't be with your dad all the time to see what was happening. But after a couple days you noticed your first inkling of something happening. Your dad had brought home a "17 Magazine" for Erin. It was supposed to be a new magazine but you could tell it had been opened and read. You had assumed by your dad.
When you saw the magazine you heard your dad say when he gave it to Erin that he had bought a subscription for her. He also wanted to know what other magazines that Erin would want. He had gotten a list and subscribed to only those that were specifically for teen girls. He knew that those always had lots of information about fashion. His fashion interest started slowly as it was supposed to. At the beginning he was only interested in clothes. But as his interest grew more aspects of fashion invaded his conscience. Apparel was obviously first, but then accessories to go with them like shoes, purses and scarves. Next he became interested in jewelry and finally makeup tips. He always preferred fashions for teens, but he also broadened his interest in fashion for young adults and then fashions for women his own age and older.
His enjoyment of sports was going in reverse. In the beginning the lesser sports was abandoned. He list interest in bowling which he never played but was on TV on the weekends and so he watched it. He stopped buying, 'Sports Illustrated" weekly. He stopped reading the back pages of the newspaper. Soon he wouldn't even look up the standings. He would find excuses to watch other programs on TV which actually pleased Lynda, who didn't mind that Mike was starting to read her Cosmo. Mike would steer conversations with his friends away from sports or just walk away when he could. His friends didn't like when Mike talked about fashions, but because of the first wish didn't think it was strange that Mike wanted to talk about that instead.
