Chapter #3

To forget is to be reborn

    by: Bmao Author IconMail Icon
When Sir Eric did not return to the village from his hunt, the villagers quite logically concluded that he had been slain by the dragon. If you reader had told any of them that Sir Eric had been in fact captured and had his spirit placed within the egg of an unborn dragon, most likely they would call you crazy and drunk under the most mild circumstance, or worse the Lord's Inquisitors would be at your doorstep the next morning for being a heretic and/or pagan. Yet the death of Lord Eric had sent a new wave of fear throughout the villagers, which served our hitherto unnamed dragon well. The dragon was free to hunt meat without anything else than feeble protests from the humans. In truth, the dragon found it rather regrettable to have to steal from innocent humans, but it was the life of the unborn little one or that of the humans.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------

Eric's spirit drifted in this limbo for what had seemed like forever. How long had he been in here? He had no idea really, as there was no way to sense time. It could have been years, centuries or even millenia for all he knew. Yet for the longest time, Eric's was just content to lay there, in limbo. Over that time, he forgot about his life, what he had done, who his family had been, or any of that, and that by now, whenever now was, he had but the vaguest sense of who or what he once was.

One day, there was a feeling that his little world had suddenly become cramped for whatever reason. He tried moving about, not very successfully, but a little. Then, he moved some more, and he heard what could only be described as an audible crack. Then, there was another crack. Then another, until finally his entire world had broken apart.

The first thing that Eric sensed was one of being inexplicably cold, and that his body was covered with some strange, sticky fluid. Eric, if one could still call our former human that, could not see a thing, but wherever the hatchling was, it wasn't in that comforting place anymore. There was a pain that bit at the front of the new born. There was something that he wasn't getting, but absolutely needed.

Thus, the hatchling opened its tiny jaw, and let out a squeal as it took in its first breath.

The hatchling heard sounds. Sounds... sounds of what? The hatchling could not tell at all. The sounds grew closer, and there was nothing that the hatchling could possibly do to stop it from coming, as it was absolutely helpless. What eventually came was...

You have the following choices:

1. The Dragon

2. Humans out to hunt the hatchling!!

*Noteb*
3. There was nobody...

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
