The Black dragon leaned his head back and chuckled lightly.
"Of all things for one such as yourself to become."
Naturally, Eric did not realize what the significance of his body's color was. He had been a mighty dragon slayer, but to him, all the dragons were the same. Great scaled targets for his sword.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Eric said, finally with some firm composure since he wasn't trying to walk anymore.
The black dragon lumbered forward and replied face to face. "A white dragon is the rarest form of all. Not the most powerful, or fearsome; nor do they have the sharpest instincts of a hunter, or the greatest of speeds in the air."
The dragon turned, and with great force, opened his wings.
"However, they do have the greatest oneness with nature; all the world is your ally. You cannot find a place where you will be truly alone."
Eric took no enthusiasm upon hearing this.
"I'm afraid that..."
The dragon retracted its wings while cutting Eric off, fully expecting his answer.
"My words will not provide a satisfactory answer. Only through living as what I have made you, will you gain the knowledge you seek."
He turned and faced Eric once again.
"We will have more time for discussion later. For now, we must find you a place to reside."
Eric was a little suspicious upon hearing that.
"Why can't I remain here?"
The black dragon shot two puffs of dark smoke from his nostrils.
"You are more a less a child at this point, you can hardly walk. I'd hate to think what injuries you would inflict on yourself if you attempted to fly. Should more people such as yourself come here seeking to commit murder, you would surely fall to them. For your own good, I will take you away, where you will be safe."
