The honking started to freak Bass out. He couldn't think. What the hell was going on here? He heard a car door slam and then in the side mirror he saw someone behind his car was walking toward him carrying something. As the figure got closer he could see it was a man carrying a crowbar. Oh, shit. He started the car and prepared to pull away. Suddenly his drivers door opened and the man reached in, grabbed his shirt and hauled him out of his car. Bass tumbled to the ground, rolled and then stood up.Bass held his hands up placatingly. "Hey, buddy, what's your problem?"
The man raised his crowbar. "You wanna know my problem, asshole? It's you! I got my wife bitching at me in the car. I got the kids squalling in the back seat. And then you have to go and piss me off, by holding me up when I'm trying to get them all home and out of my hair." He swung the crowbar down, hard.
Bass raised his arm to try and defend himself. Not that he expected it to help much. The crowbar connected with his arm then bounced back. The punk with the crowbar's arm vibrated as if he had struck a metal wall. "what???"
Now Bass was pissed. He grabbed the punk by the front of his shirt and hauled him sideways. The punk flew through the air with a scream. Bass watched him fly in amazement. Did he do that? Did he just throw a man clean across the road? The punk landed among some trashcans. Bass felt a sense of satisfaction. Just taking out the trash, He looked into the car behind him. Three faces peered out at him, their expressions all registering shock.
Bass climbed back in the car. He looked at his hands. Hands that had just thrown a human being threw the air like he was the Six Million Dollar Man or something. What was happening to him?
