After a moment of serious thought, you shook your head. "I am very sorry, guys." you said. "But one of my sisters is playing with powers she can not possibly comprehend. Until I find out who she is and stop her for her own good, I can not reveal anything." you paused. "Please forget what you saw here, for your safety."
"We can help." offered Harry. "I mean you are studying some radically high tech stuff yourself, right?"
You nodded. "Yes, but where I am studying, there are literally hundreds of safe guards, protecting me from injury, and a holographic mentor and teacher, run by the computers, telling me exactly how to use my science properly. " you frowned. "Whoever is studying this 'magic' is not using any such safe guards that I can see, if I do not stop this, she is going to destroy herself!"
Megan and Harry both swallowed hard, understanding the seriousness of it and gave their word to remain silent and promised to call tomorrow. Shortly after they left, you heard the front door open then close, soon after, you saw Hayley walk passed, she had finally returned home. Only, to your horror, you saw her holding another magic book under her arm!
"Careless!" you thought. "Very careless!"
Frustrated, you took up the magic book, then your book of chaotic science before making them both vanish and followed Hayley to her bedroom. There, you urgently knocked on her door, she answered quickly and you immediately gave her a warm hug, feeling sorry for her.
Hayley, not knowing of your secret or of your discovery, returned your hug. She had spent the most amazing year away from home learning magic to protect herself and her siblings, including you, from her power. It hurt her not to tell anyone, especially not you as she heard from private telephone conversations that you had blamed yourself for her leaving. Your concerned face after she had released you confirmed mom's words.
"John, I am so sorry I could not tell you where I went." she said. "I still can't tell you, for a while, so please just be patient, everything will be revealed in time."
"There may not be much time left." you thought. then you quietly asked her, "Do you believe in magic?"
Hayley's face turned pale as you then summoned the magic book to your hand. But her face turned even more pale as you summoned a bright but harmless flame, as large as the one she had last summoned, to your free hand, causing her to let out a low scream of fright. You then gave her the book and canceled your flame.
"You are in WAY over your head, studying this magic, sis." you said. "You are playing with powers beyond your control, they can and will destroy you!"
Seeing the complete shock on her face, you let out a low sigh. "look, I won't tell mom what you are doing but promise me that you will give my words some serious thought."
Although Hayley was stunned beyond words that you had a power like her own, she managed to find her voice. "How... How were you able to do that?" she asked. "Only girls can be witches!" she winced after she had said it as her shock had dampened her usual impeccable logic.
You frowned then summoned your book for her to see. "I am a chaotic scientist!" you replied. "Where I train, I have hundreds of safeguards protecting me from injury and a computer run holographic teacher, guiding me... who is protecting and guiding you through your training of magic, Hayley?
Hayley sighed before sadly shaking her head.
"John..."
