Mel walks in and dives onto the couch. You're have an interesting relationship with her. At times she is like your best friend, others she is a pest. You suppose twins are like that, especially boy-girl twins. Recently she is okay with you.
"Hey John, what have you got ?" she asks you. You remember that you're holding the 'magic' book and reply. "Mel, just some 'magic' book someone left around. Know anything about it?" Her head is turned away, so you don't notice her eyes going wide. The truth is Mel is a witch, just like her older sister and mother, and so far they have kept that to themselves and don't intend telling you for some time. Mel herself has only discovered her powers within the last week, and has been trying them out. Unfortunately she is still inexperienced, and her powers are very unstable, much to her displeasure. The book is unnecessary for a witch, but is helpful as a guide for inexperienced witches like herself.
"No, can I have a look?" she asks you. You hand it over, and Mel asks if she can keep it. "Why? You never believed in that junk" you say laughing. "Just hand it over, so I can find out who it belongs to. You don't want to read something girly, do you John?" she says laughing. You shrug and hand it over, not noticing Mel's pleased look.
Mel thinks to herself "Never mind what Mom said. I'll show him that witches are real." She forgets her inexperience, and decides to cast a spell. "Hey John. I've got a surprise for you.
