Hayley sighed, not knowing what to think. On one hand, Mel could have been playing a prank on her. something to get even for making her worry for nearly a year while she was away before learning about magic. On the other hand, she knew of Jack's science and the witching world's fear that he may have passed his knowledge on to someone else. Worse, she knew that you had become inward drawn since she had left. "I'll ask mom about it." Softly, she said. "Maybe she knows something."
Hayley then walked to mom's study to find her pouring over a number of documents with a look of concern on her face. She spotted Hayley and waved her in before closing the door. "John is more to his normal self but he's different somehow." Worried, mom said. "He used to answer all my questions with complete honesty but now, his answers are vague to be mild."
"Mel told me that she saw a flame in John's hand and that he used magic." Wincing, Hayley said. "Do you know anything about it?"
Mom shook her head. "No but I'm sending Mel to Witchbloom tonight." Firmly, she said. "Once she is there, we can focus on John."
Just then, Hayley gasped, sensing your presence outside of the study door. She then heard hurried footsteps and rushed out to catch you only you were gone. "I know he heard us despite the privacy spell." Wincing, she thought.
