Robert stirred. The phone was going off, great. He gently turned away from the red-head, both of them only clothed in his rain-jacket. He stood up quietly, and answered the device.
"Hello?"
"Robert?"
"Who is this?"
A pause.
"Billy."
"Hey, about today..."
"I'm sorry. You don't have to worry about me being on your tail anymore... I'm going to move in with Monica."
"Monica? That's-- great, William."
Robert choked back something like a tear. Why was he crying? It was just his brother...
Monica, Robert's old girlfriend from their high school days. Started dating William when he became a cop. Treated him like crap. Now, he was going to move in with her? Something in Robert's brain broke a fuse. His brother had snapped a few wires, unless...
"Billy, do you need a place to stay?"

"Billy, I know it seems bad, but we've got a nice place here."
"And what if I'm recognized, huh? If I compromise you!"
Robert couldn't hear him for the next few seconds, but he knew what happened off the phone. Sobs. William, devastated. His instinct told him to worry about his brother.
"I want you to come over here now, William."
"Robert, you're sure?"
"Just do it. I need to talk to you. Bye."
"------- Bye."
He hung up. Time to get prepared for the visit. Hastily, he woke up the red-head.
"Hey, yeah, I'm gonna need you to get off my couch."
"But Robbie..."
She clung to his shirt; venom sparked from his eyes. She scampered away, just another beaten dog in the line of Robert Smith...
