As I watched, Tina shrank down to her normal size, and she started to look more calm…
And then panic set in on her face as she continued to shrink. I could imagine her disorientation as the entire world started to get way too big. Her wide eyes found me, and as her voice continued to slide upwards in its register, she screamed, “Matt! Matt! Help me! Do something!” As she finished speaking, she also stopped shrinking, at only about a foot tall.
Before anyone else in the house who might have heard her high-pitched shout could respond, I scooped up the remote and the clothes which had fallen off of her body, tossed the clothes in her room and closed the door, then scooped up my Barbie-sized sister, went into my room, and almost slammed the door - but I held off at the last moment just in case; I closed the door as silently as I could, and locked it.
I put Tina down gently on the bed, sat on the floor next to the bed, and said, “This is what I wanted to tell you about, sis. This gadget,” and I held up the remote, “can change the size of things and people.”
