Chapter #3Ryan by: Unknown "How about that kid in the hot tub?"
Evan and Steve walk barefoot around the main part of the pool to the hot tub, where lonely Ryan is sitting. They both noticed as the walked in that when Ryan went to the main pool to play basketball with the other boys he wasn't picked for a team, and so he made his way over to the hot tub. However, as he said "Hi" and got in the other 3 boys who were in there got out right away, and Ryan slumped down onto the little ledge in the hot tub all by himself. Evan and Steve both thought Ryan could use a friend. Or two 
The two boys get to the hot tub and stand outside of it.
"Hey dude, how's it going?" Steve asks cheerfully.
"Oh, hey guys. I'm ok, how are you?"
"Great!" Evan says with big grin across his tan face, showing his remarkably white teeth.
"We were actually wondering if we could join you in the hot tub. Can we?" Steve asks.
"Well...you want to? For some reason, people don't seem to want to be around me. I just moved here and no one seems to like me very much...are you sure you want to?" Ryan asks unhopefully.
"Of course we want to!" Evan exclaims!
"Yeah," Steve adds, "Those other guys are just jerks. Don't worry about them. I'd love to be your friend, it looks like you could use one!"
"Really?" Ryan asks
"Yeah, really!"
"You don't even know me!"
"Yeah, that's why we want to get to know you! I'm sure you are a great guy!"
"I'm sure too!" Evan adds.
"Alright...well..." Ryan lets out a little sigh of relief slash laugh, "yeah, yeah sure, come in! The water's nice!"
Evan and Steve smile at Ryan and make there way into the hot tub. They get in, and the three boys very soon afterwards head over to the snack stand to get some sodas and get to know each other at the tables over there. After about a half hour or so talking about Ryan's old hometown of Eugene, Oregon, Lakeland, North Carolina (what is now the hometown for the three of them), NFL, Community (which happens to be the favorite show amongst all of them), and how rainy the week had been up 'til today, the three of you decide to head back over to the hot tub. Ryan gets in first and sits on the side by the fence, Steve takes a spot on the opposite side of Ryan in the community's oval shaped 6 1/2 foot wide hot tub, and Evan takes a seat at the end, in between Steve and Ryan. After a minute or two more to finish the conversation about the season finale of Community, Steve states:
"You know Ryan, those other guys are idiots. I think you're really cool!"
"Wow, well, thanks Steve! I think you guys are really cool too, thanks for coming to talk to me!"
"No problem" Steve and Evan say in unison. As they do, they both notice, and maybe Ryan didn't notice, that Ryan's left foot was on top of Evans foot under the water, and his right was on top of Steve's. Steve and Evan glance over at each other.
Now that the three boys are all friends, this might be the time to ask Ryan about joining the Foothunters. What do you do?   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
