In a dark lab of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi looked over a strange and mysterious machine that had recently been uncovered. "And what exactly does this machine do?" he asked a researcher.
"We're not exactly sure. We've tried everything short of activating it to find out what this machine is, and what it does, but nothing has yielded results." the researcher responded.
"Well then, if that is the only way to discover what this thing does, then that is what must be done." he said. "The only question now is where to find the right guinea pigs to test it out."

In another part of the Soul Society, Ichigo Kurosaki and friends were walking. He along with Orihine, Uryu, and Chad had recently come to the Soul Society to do some training, and met up with Rukia and Renji. As they made their way to where they planned to do the training, they came to a clearing where they came upon and strange machine.
"What the hell is this thing?" Ichigo asked.
"I don't know. I've never seen anything like it." Rukia said
"What do you think it does?" Orihime asked.
"Don't know. Maybe we should turn it on and find out." Renji suggested.
"I'm not so sure that's such a good idea." Uryu said. "We have no idea what that thing does, so activating it would just be foolish."
"Sounds to me like you're just scared. C'mon, whats the worst that could happen?" the red-haired shinigami asked.
"I am not! For all we know, it could be a bomb! Are you sure you want to be an idiot and activate it without knowing what potential danger it could cause?" the Quincy argued.
"That still sounds like you're scared! And don't call me an idiot!"
"What are you guys doing?" they heard someone ask, interrupting the argument between Uryu and Renji. They looked over and saw the captain and lieutenant of the 10th division, Toushiro Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto, and the 5th division's lieutenant, Momo Hinamori approach them.
"Oh, hey Toushiro." Ichigo greeted.
"That's Captain Hitsugaya." the boy corrected him for the umpteenth time.
"What's that thing?" Mom asked.
"We don't know; we just found it here." Orihime said.
"I wonder what it does." Rangiku said curiously. "Maybe we should turn it and find out!"
"No! Doing that without knowing what it does will just cause problems!" Uryu tried to reason.
"Aw, come on. What's the worst that could happen?"
"Plenty!" the Quincy stated, irritated that he was having the same arguement for a second time. "You don't know what could happen if you turn it on!"
"But I want to know what it does." she whined. "What do you think captain? Don't you want to know what it does?"
"No." the white haired boy responded. "I agree with him; activating it without knowing what it does would just be stupid, and I'm sure it will just cause trouble."
"Aw, you're no fun! Where's your sense of curiosity?"
"Don't touch it." a voice commanded them, and they turned to the source to see the Captain of the 2nd Division, Soi Fon shunpo in. "That machine was planted there by Captain Kurotsuchi. Knowing him, this is part of some kind of bizarre experiment. The area around that machine is to be quarantined until it can be safely removed."
Uryu gave Renji an 'I told you so' look before saying "Let's get out of here. I have no intention of being part of one of that lunatic's experiments."
Unfortunately for them, the machine had been set with a remote activation device that the mad scientist had planted to activate it himself if the ones who discovered it did not do it. The machine instantly activated before any of them could leave, and there was a blinding flash that engulfed all those present. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
