When William first opens the door to his new dorm room, he's sure it's the wrong door. The place looks big enough to be a converted lounge, which he later learns that it is. William is astounded by his surroundings, which are even more luxurious than his own home. The dorm room is decked out with all brand new, stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen, a wide-screen TV bigger than William's even ever seen at the store, and on one side of the room a king-sized modernistic four-poster bed. In one corner of the room, as though transplanted awkwardly in, is a standard bed, desk and wardrobe that the college provides.
Ronald comes in from the kitchen to greet his new roommate. He's dressed in stylish clothes and has his platinum blonde hair coifed just right. He greets William and at the same time beckons three large men from the kitchen.
"Take care of William's stuff for us, will you?"
The three movers pick up William's small amount of stuff and begin to put it in place.
"You don't have to do that." William says to Ronald, more than a little embarassed.
"I know," Ronald replies. "That's why I hired movers."
William can't argue with his logic, or the fact that he seems to be the first person in history to win the roommate lottery. Ronald is not only rich, but seems friendly and willing to share. They decide to share stories over pizza and beer. "We'll order out this time. My chef can come in later."
"You have a chef?"
"I have a whole personal staff, but I wanted to leave them behind while I went to college. I want the real college experience."
William tries to look away so as not to make a face at the remark, but can't find a direction to look that doesn't have him staring at some clear evidence that Ronald is NOT having the real college experience.
"Okay, so... most of the real college experience. Including a roommate; you!"
William laughs a little.
The pizza arrives much faster than usual and the boys continue conversation, Ronald between bites. "I was pretty excited to leave my personal trainer behind. She's crazy strict about not just my exercise program but my diet too. Or she was. My other staff I left at our house and left them on paid leave. Her I fired. OH how I missed pizza."
After a while, the boys sit together on the luxurious couch and watch a movie. Once the pizza disappears, Ronald grabs bags of snacks and sodas. It's not long until they're both feeling stuffed and tired, and go to bed.
The food and the relaxing quickly become a habit and a pattern for both boys, though it's not always pizza. Ron's money buys them whatever food they want whenever they want, and he even brings his chef into town on weekends to help out. They manage to pack on the freshman 15 in three weeks. Ronald loves it. He loves finally enjoying all the food his money can buy, and even enjoys the new feeling of his weight. He decides to start gaining weight on purpose. William decides...
