Miranda's posture straightens and she slowly lowers the tip of her blade until it points at the ground.
"This is pointless," she says, frowning. "If we kill each other here, then no one's getting rich."
"Who says I'd lose," you counter, still keeping your sword raised. She shakes her head slowly with a sigh.
"Even if you didn't, you'd be too injured to make it out of here alive if you continue fighting with me."
You pause, then concede, lowering your own sword downwards. She had a good point about that. A lucky slash to your leg or arm would mean you would have to hold off your treasure hunting until another day, and by then it could be gone. There is no time like the present.
You sheath your blade, and Miranda does the same before stepping closer to you. Now that you aren't focused on her weapon you have a chance to get a good look at her. Her black hair is straight and chin-length, with thick bangs that are cut evenly just above her eyes. You recall hearing that look called a "cleopatra style." Her eyes are dark and almond-shaped, with skin that is quite tan. She has a dark-gray short-sleeved tunic underneath a black leather jerkin, and black trousers which are tucked into her calf-high high-heeled boots. A thick belt around her waist holds several large, empty burlap sacks; undoubtedly for holding whatever she finds in the ruins. Her sword is sheathed in a scabbard which rests on her back.
"I'm glad to see that you're as smart as you are good-looking," she says with a smirk. You feel your face growing hot with a blush, which causes her to laugh.
"Um.. a-anyway..." you stammer to regain control of the situation. "Where should we be checking first? The store rooms are undoubedly empty, so there's probably some goods stashed in the cells. Perhaps in the bedding or behind loose stones."
Miranda's brows raise, obviously impressed. "Rightfully so. We should go deeper to where the more dangerous inhabitants were kept. That's where thieves who stole more important items were kept."
You frown and shake your head. "We should be checking the larger cells where they put people in temporarily. More prisoners mean more chances that someone left something behind."
