You make it into the room

You dive into the room and somehow manage to swing the door closed behind you. Near panic, you thrust the iron latch into place, just as the full force of whatever was chasing you slams into the door, sending you sprawling!
But the door holds! Another shuddering slam sends a few splinters hurtling through the air and knocks thick curtains of dust from the heavy rafters above. You scoot clumsily away, until your back finds the far wall, all the while the creature lays siege to the door.
Somehow though, the door remains intact, and soon the battering stops. But you can still hear the sinister padding and slavering of the insidious monster in the hall.
As your terror wanes, you realize you're in a library of some sort: books and scrolls cover the four walls, floor to ceiling, and a single solid table and chairs occupy the middle of the vaulted chamber. Strange though, you think, to keep a library so deep in the twisted guts of the temple.
Drained of adrenaline and shaking violently, you realize how incredibly exhausted you are, trapped in the Temple of Silence by some ravenous horror that's already taken the rest of your crew. Being stuck in the city's dungeons starts to look like a welcome alternative!
Still, there's nothing for it. You'll have to find your way out somehow.
You creep to the single entrance and press your ear to the door. Just barely, you think you can hear ragged breathing on the other side. But it may just be your terror-wracked imagination. You look around the room: perhaps there's a secret passage somewhere, or maybe one of these books holds a clue.
