Chapter #5

Yet more darkness

    by: Unknown
Your footsteps made no sound as you walked into the Enchanted Tower. Inside, darkness surrounded you, muffling all sound and blurring your senses. The last bits of light from outside vanished, as the mighty gateway slammed shut and sealed you inside the wizard's domain.

"I'm glad we could reach this agreement!" you shouted to the blackness. Despite the high walls around you, your voice did not echo. The dark swallowed up your words, as if feeding on your very voice. The tingle of magic in the air was unmistakable. It was far stronger than any power you had felt before; whatever magic these wizards had, it was unparalleled.

"So am I," whispered a voice from somewhere in the gloom. It held a decidedly sinister tone, and instantly regret began pooling in your stomach.

"Well, uh, let's begin discussing the terms," you said, trying to mask your immense fear. At this point, your terms would simply involve getting out of this tower!

The voice - or was it the darkness? - merely laughed at you. "Terms? Pray tell, wanderer, what could you offer a goddess?"

As if to emphasize its point, the floor began to rumble. Although you were still in total darkness, you felt a presence surround you, threatening to strangle the very air out of you!

"A... a goddess?" you muttered. You realized how utterly pathetic your voice sounded, even as your words were swallowed by the inky black.

The floor was quaking now, and you struggled to keep your balance. With nothing to hold on to, you lurched and stumbled in wild directions, hoping that there would be something to grab onto. But all was darkness: and you were at its mercy.

"Allow me to reveal what no mortal dare gaze upon," spoke the 'goddess', her words pounding into your skull. The darkness was finally lifted, and you saw...

You have the following choices:

1. A woman - or was it a goddess?

*Noteb*
2. Something else

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
