Waking up to a good book

As your body lies motionless on the kitchen floor, a pool of blood growing slowly from a cut in your scalp, Nathan opens the lid of the scanner and places a book on the surface.

He seats himself on the couch. The lights on the front of the VRBCI flash orange, as the book is scanned and the world rendered. Finally, the lights turn green, and he slips the VR headset onto his head.
