Chapter #6

Shapeshifting Aliens Meet

“Hey, there!”

The voice was cheerful and disarming, but it still froze the cousins in fright and left them in a cold sweat. They looked up to find a young boy. He looked slightly older than them with curly black hair, a little on the chubby side, and he seemed to be glowing with happiness. His shirt was red with a yellow star, and his pants were plain blue jeans.

“I’m Steven. Who are you two?”

Gwen cleared her throat and prompted Ben to make himself decent. “I’m Gwen Tennyson, and this is my dorky cousin, Ben.” She extended her hand to be polite, which Steven happily shook.

“It’s nice to meet you. You must be new here.” Steven gasped in realization. “Have you had the tour yet? I can be your guide. Man, there’s so much to see! Where should we start?”

Gwen exhaled her relief as Ben stood and also shook the boy’s hand. He didn’t seem to have noticed anything odd about them, although his arrival did give her hormones the fright they needed to behave. That was probably for the best, especially with the tour being offered.

Ben shook his head. “Thanks, kid, but we’re g-”

“Actually,” Gwen interjected, inserting herself between the boys. “A tour sounds nice. We were wondering if you could show us some historical sights.”

“That’s cool. Hmm. Well, I guess the town hall is pretty historical.”

“Yeah… Isn’t there anywhere around here even more historical?” Gwen asked leadingly. “Possibly even ancient?”

Ben finally caught on. “Yeah, like the ruins. Can you-Ow!” He winced and pulled away after Gwen pinched his arm. “What was that for?”

“Because you wouldn’t know subtle if it punched you in the face. Don’t make me test that theory.”

“Ha-ha. You two are funny. Well, there’s ruins all around here. I visit them all the time. You might even say that I’m a bit of an expert,” Steven humble-bragged while posing.

“That’s convenient. Where would you say the most impressive ruins are?” Gwen smiled sincerely as she put her hands behind her back and bent forward slightly. She wasn’t consciously flirting with this new boy, but he had a charm about him that was hard to resist.

Steven was unaccustomed to such subtle flirting, so Gwen’s actions went clear over his head. “Impressive? Hmm. Impressive… Oh, I know!”

Their first stop was up the other side of the cliff. Pillars made of a stranger stone littered the place in various states of decay. What may have been a fountain sat in the middle with strange carvings along the outside.

“Whoa!” awed Gwen as she ran her fingers over the carvings. “It looks like some kind of hieroglyphics. This must have been some kind of ancient ceremonial site. I wonder what they did here.”

“Oh, great. Rocks.” Ben leaned against a pillar with his arms crossed in a huff. “How exciting.”

“Aww, I’m sorry you don’t like it.” Steven lowered his head and rubbed his arm. “I just like coming up here a lot since the view is so pretty.” He gestured out to the field of flowers directly beneath them.

“Don’t mind him, Steven. Ben was born without a sense of taste. This place is amazing. Thanks for bringing us.”

Steven perked up at Gwen’s kindness. “You’re welcome. I’m always happy to help.”

Gwen giggled girlishly and knelt by the fountain. “Well, I don’t suppose you know what this says, do you?”

“I do,” Steven chuckled, “but it’s kinda hard to put into words.”

Gwen’s smile dropped. “You can read this?”

“Well, yeah,” admitted Steven with a shrug. “Like I said, I’m kind of an expert.”

“Oh… So, what’s it say?”

Steven rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s, heh-heh, an old joke. Pearl explained it better, but it’s kind of a pun about shoving someone up your, well, butt.” He laughed awkwardly.

Gwen’s eyes flipped between Steven and the glyphs. She’d met a boy who was cute, funny, and smart? If she wasn’t careful, things could get really bad really fast. “Just how much of an expert are you?”

Ben rolled his eyes, utterly oblivious to the two major things that had transpired. “Ugh! Boring. Isn’t there any kind of exciting ruins we can check out?”

“Oh, there’s the old well. It leads down to a spooooky cave,” offered Steven, eager to please.

“Sold,” stated Ben flatly as he started marching off. “C’mon, let’s go.”

“It’s in the other direction,” corrected Steven.

“Uh, maybe you should lead the way.”

“Smartest thing you’ve said all day, doofus,” Gwen grumbled. She’d always been book-smart, but she was eager to talk shop with a genuine junior archeologist with field experience. Ben was making things difficult, as always, but the situation was not hopeless. She just had to play her cards right and wait for the right opportunity.

That opportunity came sooner than expected. The well that Steven described was no longer vertical. Time and erosion had made it more of a horizontal tunnel with an incline leading underground. It was made of the same stone as the pillars and was large enough for the kids to enter with minimal squatting. Ben raced ahead into the unknown as soon as the cave opened up enough, using the Omnitrix to light the way.

“That’s a cool watch your cousin has. I’ve never seen one like it before.”

“Yeah, it’s one-of-a-kind, but don’t ask where he got it. It’s a LONG story,” Gwen informed, trying to be evasive.

“I like long stories.”

Crap! Gwen screamed in her head, suddenly realizing that she liked guys who liked long stories.

“You’ve got a nice voice, and you seem pretty smart. I bet I could listen to you talk all day.” Steven wasn’t trying to be flirty. It was just in his nature to pay compliments whenever possible.

Double crap! Gwen felt the tingles coming back, only now they were directed at this new guy. As often as they’d been naked together, she and Ben had never been intimate while at the same size. She would always play with him while he was small, or that one time when the Omnitrix ‘malfunctioned’ and Ben nearly took advantage of the ‘accident’. Perhaps an ‘accident’ was the best approach? She could shrink Steven, blame it on wacky aliens being wacky, and show him the time of his life.

The problem was how to get Ben to cooperate. Only he could use the Omnitrix. Gwen was hesitant to ask Ben directly. He might get the wrong idea… whatever that was. She could try tricking him into shrinking Steven. That would probably lead to the least amount of awkwardness. In her head, Gwen skipped ahead to imagine Steven already shrunk. He’d be scared, and she’d offer to hold him close for safety. Just thinking about holding his adorably chubby body in her hands was getting her wet. Eventually, she’d come up with an excuse to need both hands, meaning that she’d have to hold him elsewhere. And without pockets…

“Are you okay?”

Gwen yelped, realizing that she’d been caught fantasizing by the boy of her daydreams. “Uh, yeah. Sure.”

“Hmm.” Steven leaned in close to investigate. “Oh, I know what’s going on.”

“Y-ya do?” Gwen asked awkwardly, trying to turn her body away. The cave was pretty dark, but she didn’t want this boy to see the wet spot on her crotch or the way her headlights poked through her swimsuit.

“Yeah. Lots of girls around here get like that. Luckily, Dr. Steven knows how to treat what ails you,” Steven offered, having never realized that he was actually the cause of this ‘condition’. He just thought that it was a lucky coincidence that he happened to be around whenever the urge struck.

Gwen swallowed audibly. As sweet and innocent as Steven seemed, it was hard to describe what he said as anything but innuendo. She thought she was immune to such lines, but something about Steven gave the words an appeal that Gwen wasn’t sure she could resist. Was this it? If he instigated, would she finally have sex with someone the ‘regular’ way? “D-Dr. Steven, huh? Wh-what’s the diagnosis?”

You need some smooches.
You need a tiny boy in you… Wait, what?
There’s a green flash up ahead. Ben just went hero.
The cave starts shaking.
