Link looked around. He had just played the Song of Time, and the last thing he remembered was a bright flash...
"Ah! You're back." Link heard the Happy Mask Salesman say after going inside the Clock Tower. He had returned to the outside of the Clock Tower. Link soon learned the Song of Healing and turned back to normal.
The Salesman held out his hand. "Now, if you would be so kind to return my mask..."
Link scratched the back of his head bashfully. The Salesman's smile faltered.
"You... did get it back, didn't you?" Link sighed. He suddenly felt himself being picked up and shaken violently, as the Salesman did his light speed movement.
"You little fool!! Don't you realise how dangerous that mask is!?" The Salesman asked.
Tatl fluttered over to the Salesman. "We're sorry! But the Skull Kid's too strong, and you didn't exactly give us much time..."
Link felt himself back on solid ground, and staggered as the Salesman magically returned to his original position.
"Hm... I suppose you're right. You might need a bit of help acquiring that mask..."
The Salesman turned to face them, holding out a black ball of energy.
"Very well. This is the last help I can give you. The little imp might've stolen the mask, but I was able to steal back a small amount of it's powers."
He warped back in front of Link, with his trademark eerie smile. "Best brace yourself; this will be very unpleasant."
And with that, he rammed the ball into Link's body before either Link or Tatl could stop him. Pain coursed through the boy's body, causing him to cry out in agony as black lightening crackled over him. The Salesman removed his hand and Link fell to the floor unconcious.
"Link!" Tatl moved to fly over to him, but was intercepted by the Salesman.
"Don't worry. He wasn't harmed. But when he wakes up, he may be in for a surprise..."
A few hours later, Link awoke. He was to soon find out that Majora's power had...
