Wendy finished her pizza. It had only taken ten minutes to eat the whole thing. Burping loudly, she asked Tracy “when is the bus going to show?” A moment later, the bus pulled up in front of them. It was moving noticeably slower than normal. “Right now,” Tracy responded, heaving herself up off a chair and staggering in. Following her, Wendy ditched her pizza box on the side of the road and walked into the bus. And then she stopped.
The bus she saw was not the bus she remembered. Every girl was morbidly obese. Carts of food traveled up and down the aisle, and everyone ate from them as they pleased. Staggering to where Tracy sat, she burped loudly. “This is weird,” Wendy said. “It is just a normal school day like any other. Why would it be weird,” Tracy responded, seeming concerned for her friend’s mental health. Seeing the look on her face, Wendy decided not to push the issue further, but instead to gorge herself as all the other girls did. The really weird thing Wendy noticed was that the boys did not join in on the festivities. They ate and drank as they normally did.
At one of the many stops, they picked up yet more boys. One of the boys moved over to Wendy’s spot on the bus. “Um… Hello Wendy. Do you mind if I sit down here.” he said. “Sure,” Wendy responded. “What’s your name?” she continued. “Jack. Jack Nickelson,” the boy responded.Holy crap. I remember Jack Nickelson. He is the hottest boy in the school, Wendy thought. Calmly, she said, “What do you like?” “Movies. Super Sumo game. Studying. Nothing more.” Jack and Wendy continued sitting next to each other on the bus in silence. Wendy noticed every girl on the bus gave her envious stares. And Wendy was so caught up in Jack’s face that she did not realize that she arrived at school.
