"Oh, talk? Don't see why not. About what?"
"Well, what kind of stuff are you into, that sort of stuff. That way we'll be able to find something to talk about so we don't drive each other crazy," Kat replied.
"Well, I noticed you had a few posters up," Yoko replied.
Kat suddenly drew herself inward, her eyes narrowing with a dark glint of distrust. "Yeah, what about them? I love anime. I'm not gonna hide it. Are you one of those people who think it's just tentacles and hentai and--" Kat silenced herself as Yoko withdrew the posters she had held inside of her own bag, and her anxious frown was replaced with a broad smile. "Oh! I'm sorry, I'm just used to people badmouthing anime! Thank God you like it too!"
"Yeah, I really am such a geek," Yoko replied, "Can you help me put them up?"
"It would be a pleasure! What posters do you have?"
"Oh, just shows like Fruits Basket, Evangelion, Elfen Lied, shows like that," Yoko said.
"You ever see Real Drive?"
"Never even heard of it."
They spent the rest of the afternoon putting up posters. Halfway through the session, Kat withdrew several bags of tortilla chips along with some salsa. Yoko was surprised to see, after finishing up with the posters, that the entire bag, that had been full at the beginning of the session, was now in a trash can, crumbled up and empty.
"Wow, I can't believe we ate all that," Yoko stammered.
"What do you mean? There were two of us eatin' it. It wasn't that big of a bag," Kat replied.
"Well, you're probably used to eating a lot, but usually it took a whole group of me and my friends to eat one of those things," Yoko replied, surprised. She placed a hand on her stomach absentmindedly, unsurprised to feel minor nausia spring up inside of her.
"Feeling sick?" Kat asked, mildly concerned for her roommate.
"Oh, nothing big," Yoko replied, "Just too much junk too soon, I guess."
"Oh, you'll get used to it." Kat grinned nonchalantly as Yoko tried to understand just what Kat meant by "You'll get used to it."
"Hey, are you into cosplay?" Kat asked, curiously.
"Oh? Uh, I've never cosplayed before, but I wouldn't mind to one day. Just out of curiosity, why do you ask?"
"There's a con coming up in a couple of months. I'm wondering if you wanna come along with me. A couple other friends of mine are going too, and I don't want to leave my roommate out. I mean, I might actually get to like you in the meantime. I'm just asking now because I'm buying the tickets tonight."
"Oh! I woull pay for my tickets! You don't need to worry about! And I'll take care of my costume!"
"So that's a yes?"
"Uh, well..."
